How it works

1. On the end step before your turn, activate Vedalken Mastermind by paying and tapping it, returning Stasis from the battlefield to your hand.
2. During either of your main phases, cast Stasis by paying 1.
3. While Stasis is on the battlefield, your opponent will skip their untap steps.

This ingenious little lock relies on permanently trapping your opponents in a state of eternal stagnation by exploiting the rules of the turn structure. While **Stasis** sits on the battlefield forcing all players to skip their untap steps so no one can refresh their resources, its upkeep cost normally demands a heavy toll to keep it around. To bypass this, you simply use **Vedalken Mastermind** on the end step right before your turn to pick **Stasis** back up into your hand, safely dodging the sacrifice trigger entirely. You can then recast **Stasis** during your main phase to lock the board right back down, leaving your opponents permanently tapped out while you dictate the pace of the game.
