How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Ambitious Aetherborn.
2. When Ambitious Aetherborn dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Ambitious Aetherborn enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's static ability to grant persist to your nontoken creatures, allowing Ambitious Aetherborn to constantly return from the graveyard after being sacrificed to Thermopod for red mana. As the Aetherborn returns, its fabricate ability triggers to place a +1/+1 counter on it, which immediately neutralizes the -1/+1 counter it received from persist via the rules for opposing counters annihilating each other. Meanwhile, its front face, Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn, provides convoke to your creature spells if you ever need to pivot your strategy, but the real magic here is the endless cycle of sacrifices that fuels infinite red mana alongside endless enter-the-battlefield, leave-the-battlefield, and death triggers.
