How it works

1. Activate Woe Strider by sacrificing Ambitious Aetherborn.
2. When Ambitious Aetherborn dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Ambitious Aetherborn enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Woe Strider ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's passive gift of persist into a perpetual motion machine for your nontoken creatures. By feeding Ambitious Aetherborn into Woe Strider's sacrifice outlet, you trigger both the creature's dying breath and its persist return, bringing it back with a -1/-1 counter that is immediately neutralized by the +1/+1 counter from its fabricate ability.
