How it works

1. Cast Volcano Hellion by paying 2.
2. When Volcano Hellion enters the battlefield, it triggers, dealing an arbitrarily large amount of damage to you and Volcano Hellion.
3. Instead of you losing the game as a state-based action, Lich's Mirror causes you to shuffle your hand, graveyard and all permanents you own into your library, causing Rhox Faithmender to return to the battlefield as Out of Time leaves the battlefield, and causing you to gain life equal to twice the amount of damage dealt to you plus 40.

This delightfully eccentric loop turns self-inflicted devastation into an endless fountain of life by exploiting the replacement effects of Lich's Mirror and Rhox Faithmender. When Volcano Hellion enters the battlefield, you choose an arbitrarily large amount of damage to deal to both yourself and the Hellion itself, which would normally cost you the game. However, Lich's Mirror swoops in to reset your board and life total, simultaneously stripping away Out of Time—whose departure cascades into returning your permanents, including Rhox Faithmender. Because Rhox Faithmender doubles all incoming life, the massive reset bundled by the Mirror leaves you safely in positive territory with infinite lifegain secured.
