How it works

1. Activate Grindstone by paying 3 and tapping it, causing target player to mill two cards.
2. Because both cards will share a color due to Painter's Servant, the process in step 1 repeats until the player has milled their entire library.

This classic pairing turns a modest artifact into a game-ending mill engine by exploiting a profound rule interaction. With Painter's Servant on the battlefield declaring black, blue, green, red, or white, every single card everywhere—including inside libraries—becomes that chosen color in addition to its other colors. Because of this blanket color modification, any two cards milled by Grindstone's activated ability are guaranteed to share at least one color, forcing the targeting condition to keep triggering and repeating until your unfortunate opponent's entire library is completely gone.
