How it works

1. Activate Grim Poppet by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Sakashima of a Thousand Faces.
2. Flourishing Defenses triggers, creating a creature token.
3. Activate Sakashima of a Thousand Faces by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Grim Poppet.
4. Flourishing Defenses triggers, creating a creature token.
5. Repeat.

This loop relies on a clever interplay of copies and counters, anchored by Sakashima of a Thousand Faces entering as a copy of Grim Poppet. Because Sakashima of a Thousand Faces ignores the legend rule and retains its own name and abilities, both it and the original Grim Poppet can ping back and forth by stripping and redistributing -1/-1 counters between themselves. Every time a counter is moved, Flourishing Defenses watches the event happen and rewards you with a fresh Elf Warrior token. This creates a perpetual cycle of counter-swapping and token generation that nets you an infinitely large army.
