How it works

1. Activate Grim Poppet by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Stunt Double.
2. Flourishing Defenses triggers, creating a creature token.
3. Activate Stunt Double by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Grim Poppet.
4. Flourishing Defenses triggers, creating a creature token.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the self-contained mechanics of Grim Poppet and Stunt Double into a self-sustaining engine by utilizing their ability to manipulate counters. Because Stunt Double enters the battlefield as a copy of Grim Poppet, both creatures carry the native -1/-1 counters that allow them to activate their abilities, stripping counters from one another to fuel the chain. Meanwhile, Flourishing Defenses watches this constant distribution of -1/-1 counters and rewards every single placement by generating an endless horde of 1/1 green Elf Warrior creature tokens.
