How it works

1. Activate Grim Poppet by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Sakashima's Student.
2. Flourishing Defenses triggers, creating a creature token.
3. Activate Sakashima's Student by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on Grim Poppet.
4. Flourishing Defenses triggers, creating a creature token.
5. Repeat.

This brilliant engine turns the counter-moving abilities of Grim Poppet and a clone of it into an endless parade of reinforcements, all orchestrated from the shadows by Sakashima's Student entering as a copy of the Poppet. As you shift -1/-1 counters back and forth between the two creatures, Flourishing Defenses watches the counters land and rewards every single placement by spawning a fresh Elf Warrior token. Because neither Poppet ever runs out of counters to trade with the other, you can repeat this loop indefinitely to flood the battlefield with an infinite number of creature tokens and enter-the-battlefield triggers.
