How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Woodfall Primus.
2. When Woodfall Primus dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Hardened Academic and Woodfall Primus trigger.
4. Resolve the Hardened Academic trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on Woodfall Primus.
5. Resolve the Woodfall Primus trigger, destroying target noncreature permanent.
6. Resolve the Shilgengar ability
7. Repeat.

This loop sets up a self-sustaining cycle of sacrifice and resurrection, utilizing Shilgengar, Sire of Famine to feed on Woodfall Primus while churning out Blood tokens. Each time Woodfall Primus hits the graveyard, its persist mechanic brings it back with a -1/-1 counter, but Hardened Academic steps in with its passive trigger whenever cards leave the graveyard to instantly neutralize that penalty with a +1/+1 counter. This interaction allows Woodfall Primus to enter the battlefield repeatedly without running out of life, letting you endlessly trigger its entry ability to dismantle every noncreature permanent your opponents control.
