How it works

1. Defeat Invasion of Alara, triggering it, causing you to exile it and cast Awaken the Maelstrom.
2. Holding priority, cast Dualcaster Mage by paying 1.
3. When Dualcaster Mage enters the battlefield, it triggers, copying Awaken the Maelstrom, targeting Dualcaster Mage.
4. Resolve the copy of Awaken the Maelstrom, causing a player to draw two cards, then allowing you to put an artifact card from your hand onto the battlefield, then creating a token copy of Dualcaster Mage, then putting three +1/+1 counters on creature(s) you control, and then destroying a permanent an opponent controls.
5. Repeat from step 3.

This loop relies on turning a free cascading spell into an engine of endless replication. When you defeat Invasion of Alara to cast Awaken the Maelstrom, you immediately drop a flash-speed Dualcaster Mage onto the stack to copy that very same sorcery. Because Awaken the Maelstrom lets you create a token copy of a permanent you control, each iteration can target your original Dualcaster Mage to keep spawning fresh copies and repeating the entire sequence. That cascading chain lets you draw your deck, completely dismantle your opponents' boards by destroying every permanent they control, and flood the battlefield with an endless army of creatures and +1/+1 counters.
