How it works

1. Activate Agonasaur Rex's cycling ability by paying 2 and discarding it.
2. Agonasaur Rex triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on Evolution Witness.
3. Evolution Witness triggers, returning Agonasaur Rex from your graveyard to your hand.
4. Insidious Roots triggers, creating a 0/1 Plant creature token, and then putting a +1/+1 counter on each Plant you control.
5. Resolve the Agonasaur Rex ability from step 1, causing you to draw a card.
6. Activate the Plant by tapping it, adding .
7. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the tapped Plant, adding CC.
8. Repeat.

This clever engine relies on cycling Agonasaur Rex to fuel Evolution Witness, which in turn plucks the dinosaur right back out of your graveyard while adding the necessary counters to trigger the loop. Every time Agonasaur Rex leaves the graveyard, Insidious Roots notices the card departing and rewards you with a Plant token that can immediately tap for mana before being fed to Ashnod's Altar for the colorless energy required to keep cycling. Meanwhile, Hammer of Purphoros quietly ensures your entire army comes out swinging with haste, turning this resource loop into a complete game-ending threat.
