How it works
Activate Terra, Magical Adept by paying 4 and tapping it, exiling it and returning it to the battlefield as Esper Terra.
When Esper Terra enters the battlefield, its first chapter ability triggers, copying another nonlegendary Saga you control and putting two to three lore counters on it.
The Saga tokens first through fourth chapter abilities trigger, as applicable. Resolve all triggers, and sacrifice the Saga token upon resolving the final trigger.
When the Saga token leaves the battlefield, Resourceful Defense triggers, moving the lore counters from the Saga token onto Esper Terra.
Esper Terra's second, third and fourth chapter abilities trigger.
Resolve the second and third chapter abilities.
Resolve the fourth chapter ability, adding and then exiling Esper Terra and returning it to the battlefield as Terra, Magical Adept.
Resourceful Defense and Terra, Magical Adept trigger.
Resolve the Resourceful Defense trigger, moving all counters from Esper Terra onto any other permanent
Resolve the Terra, Magical Adept trigger, causing you to mill five cards and return up to one enchantment card from among them from your graveyard to your hand.
Repeat.
This dazzling loop relies on Esper Terra transforming back and forth to rapidly accelerate and multiply Sagas with the help of Resourceful Defense. When Esper Terra enters the battlefield, its early chapters create hasty, accelerated copies of any nonlegendary enchantment you control, while Hammer of Purphoros stands ready to grant haste to creatures if needed—though the Sagas handle their own urgency. As those copied Sagas eventually leave the battlefield, Resourceful Defense catches their accumulated lore counters and salvages them onto Esper Terra itself, letting you leap straight into its later chapters. The fourth chapter yields a massive windfall of colored mana before resetting Esper Terra back into Terra, Magical Adept, whose entry trigger mills five cards and digs up another enchantment from your graveyard to restart the cycle.
