How it works

  1. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing Flayer of the Hatebound
  2. When Flayer of the Hatebound dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
  3. When Flayer of the Hatebound enters, it triggers, dealing damage equal to its power to any target.
  4. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing Flayer of the Hatebound
  5. When Flayer of the Hatebound dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  6. When Flayer of the Hatebound enters, it triggers, dealing damage equal to its power to any target.
  7. Resolve both Carrion Feeder abilities from step 1 and 4.
  8. Repeat.

This loop relies on carefully alternating counter-types to repeatedly sacrifice and recur Flayer of the Hatebound using Carrion Feeder. When Flayer of the Hatebound enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter from undying, it triggers to deal damage equal to its power while pumping Carrion Feeder; sacrificing it again triggers its persist ability thanks to Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's back face, bringing it back with a -1/+1 counter that resets the cycle. Because Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight grants persist to your other nontoken creatures, it bridges the gap between undying and persist states, turning the sacrifice outlet into an infinite damage machine.
