How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Melira's Keepers
2. When Melira's Keepers dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to its static effect.
3. Repeat.

This ingenious loop transforms the back face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight into an engine of endless sacrifices, relying on its granted persist ability to continuously bring back Melira's Keepers from the grave. Ordinarily, persist would saddle the returning creature with a -1/-1 counter, but Melira's Keepers's own static ability ensures no counters can ever be placed upon it, letting it loop indefinitely without ever wearing down. Ashnod's Altar acts as the sacrificial engine that powers the cycle while generating an endless supply of colorless mana along with infinite death and entry triggers.
