How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Melira's Keepers
2. When Melira's Keepers dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to its static effect.
3. Repeat.

This ingenious loop relies on Thermopod to sacrifice Melira's Keepers, generating a red mana and triggering the persist granted to it by Isilu, Carrier of Twilight (the back face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn). Normally, persist would return the creature with a -1/-1 counter, ending the chain, but Melira's Keepers features a static ability preventing counters from ever being placed upon it. This lets Melira's Keepers return completely unscathed, ready to be sacrificed to Thermopod all over again for an infinite supply of red mana and death triggers.
