How it works

  1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Melira's Keepers
  2. When Melira's Keepers dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to its static effect.
  3. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
  4. Repeat.

This brilliant loop relies on Isilu, Carrier of Twilight—the backside of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn—to grant Melira's Keepers persist, creating an endless cycle of sacrifice and resurrection. Normally, persist would leave a -1/-1 counter behind to stop the cycle, but Melira's Keepers has a clever static ability that completely prevents counters from being placed on it, bypassing the restriction entirely. By feeding this immortal creature into Altar of Dementia, you can endlessly mill your opponents out in one fell swoop while generating infinite entry, exit, and death triggers.
