How it works

1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing another creature, adding CC.
2. When the creature dies, Blade of the Bloodchief triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Pentavus.
3. Activate Pentavus' first ability by paying 1 and removing a +1/+1 counter from it, creating a 1/1 Pentavite artifact creature token.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Pentavus into a self-sustaining engine of creation and destruction by utilizing its ability to spawn Pentavite tokens using its own counters. By feeding those very tokens into Ashnod's Altar, you generate a surplus of colorless mana while fueling Blade of the Bloodchief to constantly rebuild Pentavus's body with fresh +1/+1 counters. Because the mana produced by the Altar more than covers the costs to both activate Pentavus and re-equip or cycle the pieces, the whole assembly spirals infinitely to generate boundless mana, sacrifices, and deaths.
