How it works

1. Activate Pentavus by paying 1 and removing a +1/+1 counter from it, creating a creature token.
2. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the creature token, adding CC.
3. When the creature token dies, Lord Feng triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Pentavus.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms Pentavus into a self-sustaining engine by utilizing its own modular nature alongside Ashnod's Altar to generate an infinite surplus of colorless mana. By spending a single mana to strip a counter and hatch a token, only to immediately feed that token to Ashnod's Altar, you generate two mana—leaving you permanently net-positive on resources. Meanwhile, Long Feng, Grand Secretariat acts as the crucial glue that keeps the automaton whole, watching the tokens perish and promptly reinvesting those deaths into fresh +1/+1 counters to replace the ones Pentavus spent.
