How it works

1. Activate Bartolomé del Presidio by sacrificing Furystoke Giant.
2. When Furystoke Giant dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. Hardened Academic triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Furystoke Giant.
4. Resolve the Bartolomé del Presidio ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Furystoke Giant's enter-the-battlefield ability to grant its activation to the board, but the real engine thrives on the interaction between its persist mechanic and Bartolomé del Presidio's sacrifice outlet. Every time Bartolomé del Presidio consumes the Giant, persist brings it back with a -1/-1 counter, which is immediately canceled out by Hardened Academic's ability triggering whenever a card leaves your graveyard.
