How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Highspire Artisan.
2. When Highspire Artisan dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Highspire Artisan enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Shilgengar ability.
5. Repeat.

This elegant recycling loop hinges on Shilgengar, Sire of Famine acting as a morbid engine that turns your creatures into Blood tokens on demand. When you feed Highspire Artisan to Shilgengar, the Artisan's persist granted by Isilu, Carrier of Twilight brings it right back from the grave; simultaneously, Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn makes your creature spells easier to cast with convoke while keeping your life total healthy through lifelink. The beauty of the loop is that Highspire Artisan's fabricate trigger places a +1/+1 counter upon its return, which immediately cancels out the -1/-1 counter from persist via state-based actions and primes the Artisan to die and repeat the cycle all over again.
