How it works

1. Cast Rancor by paying , or by paying two life due to Defiler of Vigor, targeting Defiler of Vigor.
2. Defiler of Vigor and Venerated Rotpriest triggers.
3. Resolve the Defiler of Vigor trigger, putting a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control.
4. Resolve the Venerated Rotpriest trigger, causing an opponent to get a poison counter.
5. If the opponent has ten poison counters, they lose the game as a state-based action.
6. Activate Gatherer of Graces by sacrificing Rancor.
7. Rancor triggers, returning itself to your hand from your graveyard.
8. Resolve the Gatherer of Graces ability, regenerating it.
9. Repeat until each opponent loses the game due to having ten poison counters.

This clever loop sets up a self-sustaining engine using Rancor as both a cheap green spell and a recurring sacrifice fuel. With Defiler of Vigor on the board reducing your green mana costs and triggering a power boost every time you cast it, you can repeatedly target your creatures and sacrifice the Aura to Gatherer of Graces. Meanwhile, every single time Rancor targets one of your creatures, Venerated Rotpriest capitalizes on the attention by slipping a poison counter onto your opponent until they fall.
