How it works

1. Activate Agonasaur Rex's cycling ability by paying 2 and discarding it.
2. Agonasaur Rex triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on Evolution Witness.
3. Evolution Witness triggers, returning Agonasaur Rex from your graveyard to your hand.
4. Insidious Roots triggers, creating a 0/1 Plant creature token, and then putting a +1/+1 counter on each Plant you control.
5. Resolve the Agonasaur Rex ability from step 1, causing you to draw a card.
6. Activate the Plant by tapping it, adding .
7. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the tapped Plant, adding CC.
8. Repeat.

This clever recycling loop puts Agonasaur Rex's cycling ability to work alongside Evolution Witness, where every discarded cycle drops counters onto the Witness to repeatedly fish the Rex right back out of your graveyard. Because that graveyard retrieval makes a card leave your graveyard, Insidious Roots chimes in to sprout a Plant token that can immediately tap for mana before Ashnod's Altar sacrifices it for colorles energy. While Dragonlord Kolaghan oversees the battlefield from the command zone or your ranks, this interconnected engine spins endlessly to churn through your deck, stack up counters, and generate infinite mana.
