How it works

  1. Declare any creature as an attacker.
  2. Holding priority, activate Dinosaur Headdress' equip ability by paying 0 if it's the first equip ability you've activated this turn, or 2 otherwise, attaching it to the attacking creature, and causing the creature to become a copy of Medomai the Ageless.
  3. Deal combat damage using the creature.
  4. The creature triggers, causing you to take an extra turn after this one.
  5. Move to your postcombat main phase.
  6. Activate Dinosaur Headdress' equip ability by paying 2, attaching it to any other creature you control.
  7. Repeat each turn.

This fascinating loop bypasses Medomai the Ageless's notorious restriction against attacking during extra turns by never actually letting it exist in your declare attackers step as Medomai itself. Instead, you use the crafted back side of Paleontologist's Pick-Axe // Dinosaur Headdress—which has been exiled and crafted to copy Medomai—and attach it dynamically to an entirely different attacker. Forge Anew is the engine that makes this fluid, letting you circumvent the usual sorcery-speed restriction on equipping so you can flash the Dinosaur Headdress onto a fresh attacker right before combat damage is dealt. Because the creature only *becomes* a copy of Medomai mid-combat, the game sees a legal, non-Medomai attacker successfully dealing combat damage and cheerfully awards you an infinite string of extra turns.
