How it works

1. Cast Flickering Ward by paying , targeting any creature you control.
2. Alela triggers, creating three 1/1 Faerie creature tokens with flying.
3. Activate Phyrexian Altar twice by sacrificing two Faerie tokens, adding .
4. Activate Flickering Ward by paying , returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
5. Repeat.

This elegant loop lets you turn a single white mana into an overflowing army of flying pests, fueled entirely by the clever interplay of your permanent's mechanics. When you cast Flickering Ward, Alela, Artful Provocateur sees the enchantment and triggers to create a token, which is instantly tripled into three Faeries thanks to Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation's spectacular replacement effect. You can then immediately feed two of those newly minted Faerie tokens into Phyrexian Altar to generate the exact white mana needed to bounce Flickering Ward back to your hand with its own activated ability. Because the Ward is paid for and recast on repeat, every iteration leaves you further ahead on mana and creature tokens than when you started.
