How it works

  1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Kitchen Finks.
  2. When Kitchen Finks dies, its persist ability triggers, returning Kitchen Finks from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  3. When Kitchen Finks enters the battlefield, it triggers, causing you to gain 2 life.
  4. Heliod triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Kitchen Finks.
  5. Resolve the Shilgengar ability.
  6. Repeat.

This loop turns the cycle of life and death into an engine for endless Blood tokens and life. Shilgengar, Sire of Famine provides the necessary sacrifice outlet, while Kitchen Finks bounces endlessly between the battlefield and the graveyard thanks to its persist mechanic, generating continuous entry triggers and life gains. Every time that life is gained, Heliod, Sun-Crowned steps in with a passive blessing, placing a +1/+1 counter on Kitchen Finks that instantly neutralizes the -1/-1 counter from persist—allowing the whole cycle to begin anew.
