How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Forsaken Miner, targeting an opponent.
2. When you commit that crime, Forsaken Miner triggers, causing you to pay 1 to return it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
3. When Forsaken Miner enters, Mana Echoes triggers, adding C for each Skeleton and/or Rogue you control.
4. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the unassuming Skeleton Rogue, Forsaken Miner, into an infinite milling and mana-generating engine. When you sacrifice Forsaken Miner to Altar of Dementia, you trigger its own graveyard return by committing a crime against an opponent, which simultaneously fuels Mana Echoes to generate an escalating amount of colorless mana upon re-entry. Meanwhile, Chromatic Orrery steps in to filter all that colorless energy into any color of mana you need to keep paying the Miner's recurring crime cost.
