How it works

1. Activate Chromatic Orrery's first ability by tapping it, adding 5.
2. Cast Echo Storm by paying 5, targeting Rod of Absorption.
3. Echo Storm triggers, copying itself for each time you've cast your commander from the command zone this game, with each copy targeting Chromatic Orrery.
4. Resolve the first copy of Echo Storm, creating a token copy of Chromatic Orrery.
5. Put the tapped Chromatic Orrery into your graveyard due to the legend rule.
6. Activate the remaining Chromatic Orrery's first ability by tapping it, adding 5.
7. Repeat from step 4 for each remaining copy, if applicable.
8. Resolve the original Echo Storm, creating a token copy of Rod of Absorption and exiling Echo Storm due to Rod of Absorption.
9. Activate the original Rod of Absorption by paying 5, tapping and sacrificing it, causing you to cast Echo Storm from exile without paying its mana cost, targeting the Rod of Absorption token.
10. Repeat from step 3.
11. If you have cast your commander from the command zone two or more times this game, this combo nets infinite mana, and you may instead use Chromatic Orrery's second ability to draw infinite cards and/or target any other artifact you control using Echo Storm.

This clever loop transforms a single cast of Echo Storm into an escalating storm of artifacts and mana, provided you've cast your commander from the command zone at least twice to fuel the copy count. As the original Echo Storm resolves, Rod of Absorption conveniently exiles it rather than letting it hit the graveyard, allowing you to sacrifice the Rod to cast the spell right back out into exile for free. Meanwhile, Chromatic Orrery anchors the entire engine by providing the necessary five mana through its tap ability while letting you spend it as any color. Because the copies of Echo Storm continuously overwrite your legendary artifacts via the legend rule, you can perpetually untap and tap a fresh Chromatic Orrery to generate infinite colorless mana, draw your entire deck, and replicate any other artifact you control ad infinitum.
