How it works

1. Activate Chromatic Orrery's first ability by tapping it, adding 5.
2. Activate Chromatic Orrery by paying 3 and untapping it, giving it +2/+2 until end of turn.
3. Repeat.
4. Once you have infinite mana, you may instead use Chromatic Orrery's second ability.

To pull off this ambitious transmutation, you first use Animate Artifact to turn Chromatic Orrery into an artifact creature, setting its power and toughness to match its hefty mana value. With the Orrery now able to be untapped, equipping it with Umbral Mantle allows you to tap it for five colorless mana and immediately feed three of that mana back into the Mantle's untap ability. Because Chromatic Orrery's static ability lets you spend mana as though it were any color, the surplus generation yields infinite colored and colorless mana alongside an infinitely large creature. Finally, that endless mana fuels the Orrery's own activated ability to draw your entire deck.
