How it works

  1. Activate Steelfin Whale using the ability granted to it by Viridian Longbow by tapping it, dealing 1 damage to Smaug.
  2. Smaug triggers, creating a Treasure token.
  3. When the Treasure enters, Steelfin Whale triggers, untapping Steelfin Whale.
  4. Repeat.

By outfitting Steelfin Whale with the Viridian Longbow, you give the fish the deadly ability to snipe your own indestructible dragon, Smaug the Impenetrable, for 1 damage. Because Smaug is dealt noncombat damage, his triggered ability responds by showering you in a fresh Treasure token. The moment that shiny new artifact enters the battlefield, Steelfin Whale's affinity-primed static ability sees it and immediately untaps the Whale, ready to start the loop over again for infinite treasures and mana.
