How it works

  1. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Pelakka Wurm, adding CC.
  2. When Pelakka Wurm dies, its second ability and Nim Deathmantle trigger.
  3. Resolve the Pelakka Wurm trigger, causing you to draw a card.
  4. Resolve the Nim Deathmantle trigger from step 2, causing you to pay 4 to return Pelakka Wurm from your graveyard to the battlefield, and attach Nim Deathmantle to it.
  5. When Pelakka Wurm enters the battlefield, its first ability triggers, causing you to gain 7 life.
  6. Trudge Garden triggers, causing you to pay 2 to create two 4/4 Fungus Beast creature tokens.
  7. Activate Ashnod's Altar twice by sacrificing the Fungus Beasts, adding CCCC.
  8. Repeat.

This sprawling loop turns the life-gaining, card-drawing bulk of Pelakka Wurm into a self-sustaining engine of creation and sacrifice. By feeding the Wurm to Ashnod's Altar, you generate the exact mana needed to pay Nim Deathmantle's resurrection trigger, bringing the Wurm right back to the battlefield. Every time the Wurm returns, its entrance triggers both a hefty life gain and the passive enchantment power of Trudge Garden; thanks to Anointed Procession doubling those tokens, sacrificing the resulting Fungus Beasts back to Ashnod's Altar yields a net surplus of mana and an unstoppable army.
