How it works
- Activate Basalt Monolith's first ability by tapping it, adding CCC.
- Activate Urza by paying 6, creating two token copies of Basalt Monolith that are 1/1 Soldiers in addition to their other types.
- Activate both Basalt Monolith tokens' first abilities by tapping them, adding six C.
- Repeat from step 2.
This engine relies on multiplying your token production while feeding the heavy mana demands of Urza, Prince of Kroog's activated ability. By tapping Basalt Monolith for three colorless mana, you fund half of Urza's six-mana cost, which is then doubled into two token copies thanks to Anointed Procession's replacement effect. Once you have a pair of Basalt Monolith tokens on the board, tapping both yields six mana—just enough to continuously loop Urza's creation ability and flood the battlefield with an endless army. Though Thousand-Year Elixir and the untapping aspect of Basalt Monolith aren't strictly required for this specific looping chain, every piece works together to push your artifact creature tokens well beyond normal limits, pumping them further with Urza's static +2/+2 anthem.
