How it works

1. Activate Tortured Existence by paying and discarding a creature card, returning any other creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
2. Insidious Roots triggers, creating a 0/1 Plant creature token, then putting a +1/+1 counter on each Plant you control.
3. Activate the Plant by tapping it, adding .
4. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Tortured Existence as an engine to endlessly swap creature cards between your hand and graveyard by paying its mana cost and discarding fodder. As those creature cards leave your graveyard, Insidious Roots triggers to steadily manufacture 0/1 green Plant creature tokens and grow them with +1/+1 counters. Thanks to Concordant Crossroads giving all creatures haste, those fresh Plant tokens can immediately tap to generate the black mana needed to fuel Tortured Existence over and over again.
