How it works

1. Activate Marath by paying 1 and removing a +1/+1 counter from it, putting two +1/+1 counters on Marath.
2. Activate Marath by paying 1 and removing a +1/+1 counter from it, creating a 1/1 Elemental creature token.
3. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the Elemental, adding CC.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Marath, Will of the Wild into an infinite mana and token generator by manipulating its +1/+1 counters. With Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion on your battlefield, every counter-placing effect is amplified, allowing Marath's first activated ability to spend one counter and a single mana of cost to net an extra counter. You can then spend another counter to create an Elemental creature token, which feeds directly into Ashnod's Altar to generate the colorless mana needed to keep the cycle spinning while netting infinite sacrifices, triggers, and creature tokens.
