Phyrexian Altar
Infinite death triggersInfinite creature ETBInfinite creature LTBInfinite creature sacrifice triggersInfinite +1/+1 counters on creatures you control
How it works
Activate Marath by paying 1 and removing a +1/+1 counter from it, creating a 1/1 Elemental creature token.
When the Elemental enters the battlefield, Tribute to the World Tree triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on the Elemental.
Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing the Elemental, adding 1.
When the Elemental dies, Resourceful Defense triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on Marath.
Repeat.
Once you have infinite +1/+1 counters on Marath, you may put the +1/+1 counters on any other creature you control.
This clever loop turns Marath, Will of the Wild into an infinite engine by spending a counter to spawn an Elemental token, which Tribute to the World Tree then catches and bulks up with two +1/+1 counters since its power starts below three. You can then feed that boosted token to Phyrexian Altar to generate the mana needed to keep going, while Resourceful Defense cleverly rescues the counters leaving the dying token and redirects them right back onto Marath. Because Marath gains more counters from the recycling process than it spends to initiate the token creation, your counter supply grows exponentially, allowing you to flood the board and ultimately pile infinite +1/+1 counters onto any creature you control.
