How it works

1. Activate Marath by paying 1 and removing a +1/+1 counter from it, creating a 1/1 Elemental creature token.
2. When the Elemental enters the battlefield, Tribute to the World Tree triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on the Elemental.
3. Activate Thermopod's second ability by sacrificing the Elemental, adding .
4. When the Elemental dies, Resourceful Defense triggers, putting two +1/+1 counters on Marath.
5. Repeat.
6. Once you have infinite +1/+1 counters on Marath, you may put the +1/+1 counters on any other creature you control.

This clever loop turns Marath, Will of the Wild into an engine for infinite growth and sacrifice by constantly recycling its own counters. By using Marath's ability to spawn a small token, Tribute to the World Tree swoops in to catch the small creature on arrival, immediately pumping it with two +1/+1 counters that make it a worthy offering for Thermopod's sacrifice altar. As that token leaves the battlefield, Resourceful Defense ensures its counters don't go to waste, safely catching them as they depart and funneling them right back onto Marath to keep the cycle spinning.
