How it works

1. Activate Mindless Automaton's first ability by paying 1 and discarding a card, putting two +1/+1 counters on it.
2. Activate Mindless Automaton's second ability by removing two +1/+1 counters from it, causing you to draw a card.
3. The Locust God triggers, creating a 1/1 Insect creature token with flying and haste.
4. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing an Insect, adding 1
5. Repeat.

This fascinating loop hinges on the permanent presence of Loading Zone, which passively doubles every single counter placed on Mindless Automaton to seamlessly offset the cost of its abilities. With that multiplier active, Mindless Automaton can discard a card to gain four +1/+1 counters instead of two, which then allows you to remove two of those counters to draw a card without losing your supply. Each time you draw from that engine, The Locust God triggers to drop a hasty Insect token, providing a steady stream of fodder to sacrifice to Phyrexian Altar for the mana needed to keep repeating the entire cycle.
