This clever loop turns the classic combat-phase trickery of Maze of Ith into a powerful mana engine by letting Magus of the Candelabra attack safely without taking or dealing damage. Because Maze of Ith untaps the attacking Magus of the Candelabra during the declare attackers step, our creature is left fresh and ready to use its activated ability. That ability then spends a portion of the massive {C}{C}{C}{C} generated by tapping Scorched Ruins to untap both the Maze of Ith and Scorched Ruins itself. The heavy drawback of Scorched Ruins—sacrificing two untapped lands—is completely bypassed because the Candelabra untaps it directly, leaving you with an infinite surplus of colorless mana and fully untapped lands.
