How it works

1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing the creature with a coin counter on it.
2. When the creature dies, Athreos's second ability and Reluctant Role Model's second ability trigger.
3. Resolve the Athreos trigger, returning the creature from your graveyard to the battlefield.
4. Resolve the Reluctant Role Model trigger, putting a coin counter on it if it wasn't the creature that was sacrificed, or another nontoken creature you control otherwise.
5. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
6. Repeat.

This clever loop centers around Athreos, Shroud-Veiled, whose lingering coin counter ensures that whenever a marked creature meets its end, it immediately returns to the battlefield under your command. To trigger that loop continuously, Umbral Collar Zealot provides the clean sacrifice outlet while feeding you a steady stream of surveil triggers to sculpt your draws. Meanwhile, Reluctant Role Model acts as the critical bridge for your counters; whenever your sacrificed creatures perish with counters on them, Reluctant Role Model's ability ensures those counters can be salvaged and shifted to keep the chain unbroken.
