How it works

1. Cast Altered Ego by paying 7, causing it to enter the battlefield as a copy of Sage of Hours with five +1/+1 counters on it.
2. Activate Altered Ego by removing all +1/+1 counters from it, causing you to take an extra turn after this one.
3. Activate Meticulous Excavation by paying 2, returning Altered Ego to your hand from the battlefield.
4. Repeat each turn.
