How it works

1. Cast Ugin's Nexus by paying 5.
2. At the beginning of your end step, Toph triggers, causing Ugin's Nexus to become an artifact land creature.
3. Activate Arcbound Ravager by sacrificing Ugin's Nexus. Ugin's Nexus is exiled instead of being put into your graveyard, causing you to take an extra turn after this one.
4. Toph triggers, returning Ugin's Nexus from exile to the battlefield.
5. Resolve the Arcbound Ravager ability.
6. Activate Meticulous Excavation by paying 2, returning Ugin's Nexus from the battlefield to your hand.
7. Repeat each turn.

This clever engine locks down infinite turns by turning Ugin's Nexus into a versatile piece of recurring real estate with the help of Toph, the First Metalbender. Because Toph makes your nontoken artifacts into lands, Meticulous Excavation can easily target Ugin's Nexus and bounce it back to your hand for just {2}{W}. Alternatively, you can use Arcbound Ravager to sacrifice Ugin's Nexus directly; its replacement effect exiles it to grant you an extra turn while Toph's earthbend ability immediately brings it right back from exile to the battlefield. By looping this sequence, you continuously trigger the Nexus's extra turn clause while completely bypassing its drawback, leaving opponents permanently frozen out of the game.
