How it works

1. Cast Ugin's Nexus by paying 5.
2. At the beginning of your end step, Toph triggers, causing Ugin's Nexus to become an artifact land creature.
3. Activate Bartolomé del Presidio by sacrificing Ugin's Nexus. Ugin's Nexus is exiled instead of being put into your graveyard, causing you to take an extra turn after this one.
4. Toph triggers, returning Ugin's Nexus from exile to the battlefield.
5. Resolve the Bartolomé del Presidio ability.
6. Activate Meticulous Excavation by paying 2, returning Ugin's Nexus from the battlefield to your hand.
7. Repeat each turn.

By turning your nontoken artifacts into lands, Toph, the First Metalbender ensures that Ugin's Nexus doubles as both a lethal land creature and an artifact you can readily feed to Bartolomé del Presidio. When you sacrifice Ugin's Nexus to Bartolomé del Presidio, its replacement effect intercepts it from hitting the graveyard, exiling it to trigger an extra turn while Toph, the First Metalbender's earthbend clause dutifully brings it straight back to the battlefield. Meanwhile, Meticulous Excavation stands ready to bounce the artifact back to your hand if you ever need to reset the loop from a different angle, securing an unending chain of extra turns.
