How it works

1. Activate Cauldron of Souls by tapping it, giving the creature with bloodthirst persist until end of turn.
2. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing the creature with bloodthirst.
3. When the creature dies, its persist ability and Dross Scorpion trigger.
4. Resolve the persist trigger, returning the creature from your graveyard to the battlefield, which enters the battlefield with at least one +1/+1 counter on it due to its bloodthirst ability.
5. Resolve the Dross Scorpion trigger, untapping Cauldron of Souls.
6. Resolve the Shilgengar ability
7. Repeat.

This clever loop turns your graveyard into a perpetual motion machine by turning every creature you control into an artifact thanks to Encroaching Mycosynth. With that foundation set, Cauldron of Souls grants persist to your creatures, allowing Shilgengar, Sire of Famine to sacrifice them and generate Blood tokens while triggering Dross Scorpion. Whenever a creature dies, Dross Scorpion untaps the Cauldron so you can keep the cycle going, and the creature returns via persist—counteracting its new -1/-1 counter if it enters with a +1/+1 counter like one with bloodthirst. Ultimately, this engine feeds Shilgengar's sacrifice outlet infinitely to yield endless triggers and a mountain of Blood tokens.
