How it works

  1. Activate Cauldron of Souls by tapping it, giving the creature with bloodthirst persist until end of turn.
  2. Activate Krark-Clan Ironworks by sacrificing the creature with bloodthirst, adding CC.
  3. When the creature dies, its persist ability and Dross Scorpion trigger.
  4. Resolve the persist trigger, returning the creature from your graveyard to the battlefield, which enters the battlefield with at least one +1/+1 counter on it due to its bloodthirst ability.
  5. Resolve the Dross Scorpion trigger, untapping Cauldron of Souls.
  6. Repeat.

This ingenious loop transforms your entire battlefield into a self-sustaining engine by using Mycosynth Lattice to turn every permanent into an artifact, ensuring that even non-artifact creatures can trigger Dross Scorpion when they die. You begin by tapping Cauldron of Souls to grant your creature persist, then feed it to Krark-Clan Ironworks to generate colorless mana. Because of Mycosynth Lattice, that sacrifice simultaneously triggers Dross Scorpion to untap Cauldron of Souls so it can keep granting persist. When the creature returns from the graveyard via persist with a -1/-1 counter, its native bloodthirst ability places a +1/+1 counter on it right away; this clever counter-cancellation wipes the slate clean, allowing the creature to safely repeat the process indefinitely while fueling massive amounts of mana.
