How it works

1. Activate Mairsil using Cauldron of Souls' ability by tapping it, giving itself persist until end of turn.
2. Activate Mairsil using Blood Vassal's ability by sacrificing it, adding .
3. When Mairsil dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
4. Activate Mairsil using Carnifex Demon's ability by paying and removing a -1/-1 counter from it, putting a -1/-1 counter on each other creature.
5. Repeat.

This ingenious loop turns Mairsil, the Pretender into a one-commander engine by feeding her a graveyard full of terrifying utility. With Thousand-Year Elixir granting her activated abilities the speed of haste, Mairsil borrows Cauldron of Souls to grant herself persist, allowing her to shrug off death and return with a -1/-1 counter. She then taps into Blood Vassal's sacrifice ability to churn out infinite black mana while sending herself to the graveyard to trigger that persist loop. Finally, the -1/-1 counter she returns with is immediately cleared away by paying into Carnifex Demon's ability to remove it, resetting the entire process while wiping out opposing boards.
