How it works

  1. Deal combat damage using the creature that has Breath of Fury attached.
  2. Breath of Fury and Aya of Alexandria trigger.
  3. Resolve the Aya of Alexandria trigger, creating a 1/1 Assassin creature token.
  4. Resolve the Breath of Fury trigger, causing you to sacrifice the creature it is attached to, then attach Breath of Fury to the Assassin token, then causing you to untap all creatures you control and to get an additional combat phase after this one.
  5. Repeat each combat phase.

This clever engine lets you take infinite combat steps by turning your entire board into historic permanents, allowing Aya of Alexandria to churn out new Assassins whenever they connect. Breath of Fury acts as the mechanical heart of the loop, requiring you to sacrifice its host upon dealing combat damage so it can jump straight to the newly minted token and grant you an extra combat phase. Meanwhile, Encroaching Mycosynth quietly lays the foundation by transforming every nonland permanent you control into an artifact, ensuring that your tokens and creatures always trigger Aya's historic clause. Finally, Kratos, God of War rounds out the table with a touch of aggression by giving all your creatures haste so they can charge right back into the red zone during each extra combat phase.
