How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Eidolon of Philosophy, adding .
2. When Eidolon of Philosophy dies, Mortuary and Ashiok's Reaper trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Eidolon of Philosophy on top of your library from your graveyard.
4. Resolve the Ashiok's Render trigger, causing you to draw Eidolon of Philosophy from your library.
5. Cast Eidolon of Philosophy by paying .
6. Repeat.

This loop transforms a humble creature into a self-sustaining engine by turning every iteration into a free cycle. When you feed Eidolon of Philosophy to Phyrexian Altar, its death triggers both Mortuary to tuck it safely back onto your library and Ashiok's Reaper to draw it right back into your hand. Because the mana generated by the Altar completely covers the casting cost of the Eidolon, you can replay it and repeat the process indefinitely, netting an infinite storm count alongside boundless creature triggers of every variety.
