How it works

  1. Cast Searing Touch with buyback by paying R mana. Storm-Kiln Artist, Blood Funnel and Sedgemoor Witch trigger.
  2. Resolve the Storm-Kiln Artist trigger, creating a Treasure token.
  3. Holding priority, activate the Treasure by tapping and sacrificing it, adding R mana.
  4. Resolve the Sedgemoor Witch trigger, creating a 1/1 Pest creature token.
  5. Resolve the Blood Funnel trigger, causing you to sacrifice the Pest token.
  6. When the Pest dies, it triggers, causing you to gain 1 life.
  7. Resolve the Searing Touch spell.
  8. Repeat.

This elegant loop turns Searing Touch into a self-sustaining engine of destruction by heavily discounting both its casting and buyback costs. With Memory Crystal reducing the buyback to just {2} and Blood Funnel shaving another {2} off the base cost, you can cast the spell for a mere single red mana. Blood Funnel's penalty is neatly dodged thanks to Sedgemoor Witch, whose magecraft ability churns out a Pest token every time you cast an instant or sorcery to feed the sacrifice requirement. Simultaneously, Storm-Kiln Artist answers the call with its own magecraft trigger, generating a Treasure token that you immediately sacrifice for the mana needed to repeat the process indefinitely—all while pinging away targets with damage and racking up an endless stream of lifegain.
