How it works

  1. Cast Seething Anger with buyback by paying R mana. Urabrask, Blood Funnel and Hermes trigger.
  2. Resolve the Urabrask trigger, adding R mana and dealing 1 damage to any target.
  3. Resolve the Hermes trigger, creating a creature token.
  4. Resolve the Blood Funnel trigger, causing you to sacrifice the creature token.
  5. Resolve the Seething Anger spell.
  6. Repeat.

This brilliant loop turns a humble instant into an infinite engine by stacking cost reductions until a spell pays for itself. By combining Blood Funnel and Memory Crystal, the buyback cost of Seething Anger is reduced to just {R}, which is refunded immediately when Urabrask's front face triggers upon casting. Meanwhile, Hermes, Overseer of Elpis steadily churns out Bird tokens every time a noncreature spell is cast, providing a renewable stream of sacrifices to satisfy Blood Funnel's counter-unless-you-sacrifice tax.
