How it works
Activate Rowan by tapping it, reducing the cost of all black and/or red spells you cast this turn by at least 3.
Cast Seething Anger with buyback by paying due to Rowan's ability, targeting any creature.
Sedgemoor Witch triggers, creating a 1/1 Pest creature token.
Resolve Seething Anger, giving target creature +3/+0 until end of turn and returning Seething Anger to your hand.
Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing the Pest, adding .
When the Pest dies, it triggers, causing you to gain 1 life.
Repeat from step 2.
This brilliant loop turns the life-taxing discount of Rowan, Scion of War into a self-sustaining engine by relying on the buyback mechanic of Seething Anger to keep the spell returning to your hand. As you repeatedly cast the spell for a single red mana, Sedgemoor Witch's magecraft ability floods the board with Pest tokens. You then feed those very same Pests into Phyrexian Altar to generate the exact red mana needed to keep going, while the Pests' dying trigger conveniently gains you the life lost to fuel Rowan's cost reduction in the first place.
