How it works

1. Activate Ethereal Champion by paying life.
2. Repeat step 1 as desired.
3. Activate Rowan by tapping it, reducing the cost of all black and/or red spells you cast this turn.
4. Cast Exsanguinate, choosing for X to equal the amount of life you've lost this turn, but paying a total of due to Rowan.
5. Resolve Exsanguinate, causing each opponent to lose X life, and you to gain life equal to the life lost this way.

This clever combination uses Ethereal Champion's ability to intentionally drain your own life total on demand, acting as a repeatable payment engine that fuels the entire loop. Once you've paid enough life to reach your desired threshold, you tap Rowan, Scion of War to drastically discount your black and red spells for the turn based on that exact life loss. This massive cost reduction allows you to cast Exsanguinate for a devastatingly high value of X while only paying its base mana cost, draining the entire table and instantly stabilizing your life total with the massive influx of gained life.
